Movies to Watch on Moving Day

Moving is one of the most relatable events in life. For that reason there have been many movies that depict the frustration, humor and nostalgia associated with this life event. While Russell’s Moving and Storage works to prevent your move from being as dramatic as those depicted on the silver screen, we are a Pasadena moving and storage company that can appreciate the lighter moments involved in relocating to another abode. For that reason, we would like to share with you some of our favorite movies that are related to moving and movers.

  • The Money Pit: This 80’s film starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long shows everything that can go wrong with a move. Watch this movie, laugh and be glad that your move will probably be nowhere near thispasadena moving and storage company calamitous.
  • Blandings Builds His Dream House: This classic movie starring Cary Grant, is said to have been the inspiration for the above movie. It has been included in the top 75 of the American Film Institute’s 100 Funniest Movies of All Time.
  • The Karate Kid: This classic is more about the aftermath of moving. It stresses the effect moving sometimes has on young people and how parents should be sensitive to how it can effect teens.
  • Beetle Juice: We threw in this dark comedy starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, just for pure escapist fun. No one’s move is this eerie or funny. (A sequel is rumored to be in the works.)
  • Cheaper By the Dozen: This movie depicts a move from a small town to a big city with 12 kids in tow! Starring Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt, Cheaper by the Dozen should make your relocation seem like a cakewalk in comparison.
  • Moving: This movie stars the late, great Richard Pryor as a man from New Jersey who is forced to relocate to Idaho after he has been fired from his job as a mass transit worker. This movie is an exaggerated depiction of what can happen when the wrong movers are chosen.

To summarize, moving in real life is very seldom as frustrating, confusing and funny as is depicted in movies. That is why we can watch and feel relatively good about our own moving experiences. Our Storage Agoura Hills moving company strives to make sure that your move goes smoothly and that you avoid the unnecessary challenges that these movies portray.
