Preparing for Your Move

When it comes to preparing for a move the best thing you can do is give yourself the gift
of time. There are so many moving parts when it comes to relocating your home and your
family that it can become overwhelming. The best thing to do in order to ensure a smooth
move is to plan in advance and to make thorough lists that you can check off as you go. Below is
a helpful list of things when it comes to preparing for your move. Keep in mind that if you end
up needing storage as you prepare for your move our Beverly Hills storage facility is here to
support all of your needs.
 Distance: If you are moving a long distance there are additional pieces that you will
need to prepare for. If you are moving a short distance, you are likely able to keep your
same school district, medical facilities, hair care, grocery stores, etc. However, if you are
moving out of state you will need to consider how you will transfer all important
documents, enroll children in school, find proper care for your pets, and the list
continues.
 Size: The bigger your household is the bigger your move will be. If you have a 1-2
bedroom home you can likely pack up rather quickly. However, if you have a 5+
bedroom home it can take weeks to months to pack up and prepare all of your
belongings. Something else to take into consideration is how long you have lived in your
home. If you have lived in your home for over 10 years or more you likely have a
significant amount of items, many of which you may not even realize exist! If you need
to use our Beverly Hills storage facility for any of these items please try to prepare
ahead of time.
 Time of move: If you are moving during the peak moving season which is May through
September it can be harder to find movers and packing supplies readily available. Try to
coordinate all of these pieces prior to the busy season so that you do not have to settle.
